last light of day

i took this picture tonight while shooting some of my latest etsy listings. the sunset was coming through the trees in my yard and just happened to hit this branch on my eucalyptus tree, making the leaves appear to be glowing. i did a little photoshop magic and voila!! i love a good sunset...

Makin' tie dye t-shirt with sharpie pens.... very groovy!!

Now I never would have thought of this... I've always been a huge fan of tie dye. Perhaps because I er um... sorta grew up when tie dye was cool... Ouch... there I go telling my age... Well I've always been a little afraid of doing my own tie dying (was afraid of the mess and ending up with something where all the colors ran together and made a puke green and brown bunch of blobs!!) but this I may just have to try ;-)...

candy necklace no. 5

so in a state of creative contemplation one night, i found myself with a brand new order of colorful ceramic disc beads. i pondered what to do with them for quite some time... after throwing them into a big bowl with some colorful glass beads and some aqua seed beads (this is a trick in the creative process i use quite often), i came up with this crazy necklace. it's a mix of those charms, glass beads, size 11 aqua seed beads, and some silver metal beads. i closed this piece with a silver lobster clasp. and here it is... the candy necklace. i gave it that name because the ceramic discs remind me of candy necklaces. this necklace can also be worn as one long strand, doubled up, or wrapped around your wrist for a funky bracelet... so bright and colorful, and a little eccentric, but fun all the same!!

Did You Know...

Did you know that epsom salts are a great garden fertilizer. just sprinkle them around your plants and water them in!! repeat every 2 weeks. they increase chlorophyll production and help plants pull nutrients from the soil...

upcycled magazine decoupage framed mirror

http://www.etsy.com/listing/71356109/eclectic-upcycled-magazine-decoupage

this is a wooden frame covered with colorful pictures from old magazines i found at work. in a hospital there is always a wealth of used magazines!! yes, i am the girl who tears interesting pages from magazines... i can't help myself!! but i always make sure that they've been well loved before i attack them with my scissors... i decoupaged the pictures to the front of the frame and finished it with a shiny acrylic sealer. the back of the frame is painted flat black... the mirror can be removed to hold a favorite picture.
